THE BIG GIVE

Last December, WEP was delighted to join the Big Give Christmas Challenge, giving donors the chance to see their donations doubled in value from match funds pledged in advance to WEP. Through it we raised an incredible £23,741, the largest amount we have ever raised from donations.  We  are immensely grateful to all those who donated so generously and particularly to those who provided the match funding. We look forward to putting the money to work to provide education for women and girls in Sudan and South Sudan.

We will look at repeating the campaign at Christmas 2022.

WORDS MATTER

On 8 September 2021, WEP was honoured to hold a virtual evening in the company of internationally-acclaimed Sudanese author, Leila Aboulela, whose books paint an enriching human picture of Sudan, the country of her birth, and Scotland where she now lives. Leila touched on her childhood in Khartoum, the importance of girls’ education and her navigation of issues of faith and identity. She was interviewed by NBC journalist, Adela Suliman.

We were delighted that the event raised over £1,000 in tickets and donations.
