Upcoming Event: Words Matter, July 2021

Join Women’s Education Partnership (WEP) for a virtual evening in the company of internationally-acclaimed Sudanese author, Leila Aboulela, whose literary works paint an enriching human picture of a country frequently misunderstood. Sudan is on the cusp of Africa and the Middle East, with a booming and historic women’s rights scene.

Leila will touch on her childhood in Khartoum, the importance of girls’ education and her navigation of issues of faith and identity, both on the page and in her own life’s journey.

The event will take place on Wednesday 8th September at 7pm.

Visit our events page here for information on how you can join

International Women’s Day, March 2021

Monday, 8th March marks International Women’s Day.  We would like to pay tribute to the amazing women working tirelessly to carry out WEP’s mission of empowering women through education.

Student Life, February 2021

Views of Ahfad University for Women, before Covid-19. Currently, social distancing is practised, both in lecture rooms and practical classes.

Whilst Covid-19 has impacted us all, WEP remains committed to our mission to help empower women through education and we hope to continue to fund many more inspiring women through our University Scholarship schemes.

Festive Appeal Success – thank you to all, January 2021

Festive Appeal Success - thank you to all

After a tough year for all of us, Women's Education Partnership is incredibly grateful to those who so generously gave to our twin Appeals at Christmas – to Imogen Thurbon’s fantastic Christmas Day Challenge to walk 10 miles for WEP and to the Festive Appeal led by our patron Leila Aboulela.

Together the two appeals have raised more than £6,500!
Christmas Day Challenge 2020 £2,310
Festive Appeal 2020 £4,200.00.

We have therefore been able to send £7,000 to Sudan immediately to help repair the schools that were damaged by floods. This should make it possible for pupils to get back to school and resume their life-changing chance of education and we hope to keep you updated on the progress of the repairs.

We are deeply grateful for all the support that we have received at such a difficult time, and we wish you all a very Happy New Year.
